Knowledge of vehicle maintenance shop procedures and safety standards.
Ability to read and interpret operator manuals, gauges, indicators, and written directives.
Basic writing skills to complete forms, reports, and maintenance records.
Strong verbal communication skills for coordination with supervisors and team members.
Basic math skills to perform measurements, fluid calculations, and tool selections.
Proficient at diagnosing mechanical issues and completing safe, reliable repairs.
Skilled in operating shop tools and machinery, including welding equipment, air tools, and lifts.
Ability to follow instructions, manage time effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications Required
Must have a valid driver’s license from the state of residence.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in automotive and heavy equipment mechanics, or an appropriate combination of training and experience.
Skilled in diagnosing mechanical problems with vehicles and equipment.
Ability to operate vehicles and equipment safely to ensure repairs are properly completed.
Proficient in using shop equipment including air buffers, welding torches, and hydraulic lifts.
Physical Qualifications Required
Dexterity to use hands and fingers to grasp and manipulate tools.
Agility to climb on, off, in, out of, or under equipment during repairs.
Ability to work in confined spaces such as underneath vehicles.
Adequate upper and lower body strength to maintain control while repairing vehicles and equipment.
Ability to hear communications clearly over a two-way radio (hearing aid acceptable).
Must speak clearly and loudly enough to be understood in person and via radio.
Must possess sufficient vision to operate equipment safely.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
