Job Description

Our client is a diversified global automotive supplier engaged in the design, development and manufacturing of metal parts, assemblies and modules, complex fluid management systems and aluminum products. 

Job Summary:

This role provides leadership and direction to the Press department across multiple shifts to ensure we meet the customers’ requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Supervising and Developing Press roles; Team Leaders, Press Operators and Set up, to ensure the appropriate training, coaching and discipline is given to ensure high performance of tasks to meet scheduled requirements
  • Identify, record and report quality nonconformance’s and escalate to Quality Manager. Prevent further processing, assembly or delivery of non-conforming products
  • Develop production planning, communicates responsibilities, establish production timeline and ensure intent results are achieved for department
  • Address all quality related problems and provide prompt resolutions and recommendations to minimize production interruption
  • Ensure that raw materials and products are dispersed or consumed based on FIFO and customers’ requirements
  • Ensure that product identification, traceability, process control, packaging instructions are being always followed
  • Analyze machine downtime to identify and provide resolutions on all mechanical problems
  • Minimize costs of operating through proper planning and efficient use of all available resources
  • Participate in internal quality audits to determine the effectiveness of the quality system
  • Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Employee Handbook
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).
  • Search out, recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Assist plant leadership in driving and accomplishing key performance indicators.
  • Assist in the hiring process and new associate orientation. Oversee department of approximately 30 people

 

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Community College courses in Business related discipline preferred
  • Strong communicator in the English language, both written and oral
  • Minimum 3 - 4 years’ experience in similar role
  • Thorough knowledge of stamping processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft office
  • Ability to lead a large team and strong problem-solving skills
  • High level of time management and organizational skills
  • Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Knowledge of automotive industry processes and operations

 

Additional Information

Working Conditions

  • 10% office, 90% plant floor (PPE required)

Effort/Physical Demands

  • Constant communication with employees, peers, management, suppliers and customers.
  • Overtime as required
