Job Description

General Summary: Production Line Quality Inspector This is an hourly (non-exempt) position reporting to the Quality Team Leader. The inspector will operate on the production line and is responsible for reviewing and inspecting product to ensure it meets customer specifications. Inspection includes visual inspection for cosmetic defects, testing seat functionality, as well testing fasteners for correct torque. Responsible for meeting plant targets for safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
II. Essential Job Function: A. Works in a manufacturing environment emphasizing teamwork, safety, quality, training, and discipline.
B. Inspects seats visually for cosmetic defects according to customer standard.
C. Inspects seats for assembly completion (No missing parts and properly functions).
D. Checks torque of fasteners/bolts required by specification.
E. Reports quality issues to Team Leader and rejects nonconforming seats. F. Follows standardized inspection procedures and work sequence for each process. G. Works with Team Leader to improve standardized processes/methods, identify waste, methodically eliminate waste and standardize the new process/methods. H. Directly responsible for performance of assigned work area. I. Works in a team environment on safety, quality, productivity and cost improvement projects. J. Completes all working documentation, records and reports as requested. K. Understands and follows all SAIA policies and procedures. L. Remains proactive and reactive to resolve abnormalities in the process. M. Uses key performance indicators as a method of continuous improvement. N. Performs other duties as requested.

Job Requirements

Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Required.
Experience: One to two years experience in a manufacturing environment desired.
Personal/Technical Skills: A. Focuses on employee relations centered on trust and teamwork.
B. Experience with gages like steel scale, slide caliper. C. Demonstrates understanding of customer s standard for seat inspection. D. Focuses on continually improving skills as outlined during performance review. E. Attends all required training as outlined on the SAIA training matrix. F. Basic math skills are required.
Language Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills.

IV. Work Environment Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level. Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. May be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.
V. Physical Demands While preforming duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, hear, walking and standing for extending periods of time. Occasionally lifting 30 lbs.
