Position Summary

The IS Engineer – Programmer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting custom software applications, databases, and manufacturing systems that improve operational efficiency, production traceability, and business performance. This role partners with cross-functional teams to develop technology solutions, troubleshoot complex system issues, and ensure reliable operation of critical production applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot customized software applications.
  • Develop, maintain, and support production traceability systems and databases.
  • Create software applications that improve efficiency and integration across business functions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain reporting tools and data analytics solutions.
  • Analyze production and business data to support operational decision-making.
  • Maintain and enhance the company's intranet site.
  • Provide technical support for applications, databases, and enterprise systems.
  • Troubleshoot routine and complex database and software application issues.
  • Train users on database functionality and communicate system enhancement opportunities.
  • Support cross-functional teams with application development, system improvements, and integration projects.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support critical production systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S principles.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to internal and external customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of software development experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Microsoft SQL Server administration and maintenance experience (SQL Server 2005 or newer).
  • Strong programming experience with:
    • Visual Basic (VB/VBScript)
    • C#
    • JavaScript
    • SQL / T-SQL
    • PHP
    • .NET / ASP.NET
    • HTML / XML
  • Ability to read and write PLC ladder logic.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server, including queries and stored procedures.
  • Experience with ICONICS Genesis32 or Genesis64 is preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Occasional work on the production floor.
  • Ability to use hands and reach while interacting with computer systems and manufacturing equipment.
  • No special vision requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Preferred)
  • Advanced degree (Preferred)

Experience

  • 10+ years of software development experience (Required)
  • 5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server administration and maintenance (Required)
  • Experience developing manufacturing systems or industrial software applications (Preferred)
  • PLC ladder logic programming experience (Preferred)
